Bookkeeper (Debtors & Creditors) & Payroll Administrator – Food Manufacturing

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage Debtors and Creditors functions at our Umkomaas office in KZN. The successful candidate will have strong experience in a manufacturing environment, excellent knowledge of Sage Accounting Software, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience dealing with high-volume transactions, suppliers, and inventory-related accounts will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & General Accounting

  • Maintain accurate financial records up to trial balance
  • Process and reconcile bank accounts
  • Capture and reconcile general ledger transactions
  • Assist with the monthly management accounts preparation
  • Support month-end stock and production reconciliations
  • Assist with annual audit preparation
  • Payroll experience advantageous

Creditors (AP)

  • Capture high-volume supplier invoices (raw materials, packaging, logistics, utilities)
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Prepare weekly/monthly payment schedules
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation to production and inventory accounts
  • Resolve supplier discrepancies promptly
  • Petty Cash

Debtors (AR)

  • Process bulk customer invoices (retailers, wholesalers, distributors)
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve queries
  • Monitor credit limits and payment terms
  • Prepare and manage debtor age analysis
  • Follow up on outstanding payments to maintain a healthy cash flow
  • Allocate receipts accurately
  • Process/Screen Credit Applications 

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping (Certificate/Diploma/Degree)
  • Sage certification (advantageous)

Minimum Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven Debtors and Creditors experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage Accounting Software
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliation schedules, data analysis)
  • Experience with high-volume transactions
  • Strong understanding of inventory and cost of sales processes
