Bookkeeper (Debtors & Creditors) & Payroll Administrator – Food Manufacturing
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage Debtors and Creditors functions at our Umkomaas office in KZN. The successful candidate will have strong experience in a manufacturing environment, excellent knowledge of Sage Accounting Software, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience dealing with high-volume transactions, suppliers, and inventory-related accounts will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & General Accounting
- Maintain accurate financial records up to trial balance
- Process and reconcile bank accounts
- Capture and reconcile general ledger transactions
- Assist with the monthly management accounts preparation
- Support month-end stock and production reconciliations
- Assist with annual audit preparation
- Payroll experience advantageous
Creditors (AP)
- Capture high-volume supplier invoices (raw materials, packaging, logistics, utilities)
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Prepare weekly/monthly payment schedules
- Ensure accurate cost allocation to production and inventory accounts
- Resolve supplier discrepancies promptly
- Petty Cash
Debtors (AR)
- Process bulk customer invoices (retailers, wholesalers, distributors)
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve queries
- Monitor credit limits and payment terms
- Prepare and manage debtor age analysis
- Follow up on outstanding payments to maintain a healthy cash flow
- Allocate receipts accurately
- Process/Screen Credit Applications
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping (Certificate/Diploma/Degree)
- Sage certification (advantageous)
Minimum Requirements
- 3–5 years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proven Debtors and Creditors experience
- Strong working knowledge of Sage Accounting Software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliation schedules, data analysis)
- Experience with high-volume transactions
- Strong understanding of inventory and cost of sales processes
